Venture Global’s CP2 terminal gains conditional approval to boost U.S. energy exports.
U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright recently approved the export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the proposed CP2 LNG terminal in Cameron Parish, Louisiana. The decision advances the efforts of President Trump’s administration to expand American energy exports. Venture Global’s CP2 terminal will be authorized to export up to 3.96 billion cubic feet per day of LNG to non-free trade agreement countries. This is the fifth LNG-related approval issued by the Department of Energy (DOE) this year.
DOE officials say the project will provide economic benefits, diversify global LNG supplies, and strengthen energy security for U.S. allies through 2050.
“The benefits of expanding U.S. LNG exports have never been more clear, and I am proud to be taking action to support the American people and our allies abroad with more affordable, reliable, secure American energy,” said Secretary Wright.
The decision follows recent infrastructure expansions, including the addition of 8.5 billion cubic feet per day of pipeline capacity in Texas and Louisiana to support LNG export terminals. A final order on the CP2 project is expected in the coming months.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Wright to receive God’s wisdom as he heads the Energy Department.
- For U.S. energy officials as they seek ways to increase natural gas exports.
- For President Trump as he works to improve the American economy and domestic energy production.
